can a little company compete these days?

I was reading nick bilton’s post about Google’s Priority Inbox.  God, I love how he “humanizes” otherwise very geeky things: “There were times that I felt like I was training my inbox, as if I was trying to teach a puppy to sit still for a few minutes.”

Here’s my take on this: the purpose of SaneBox (my company) is prioritization  but without all the work.  Life is hard enough! And all SaneBox features including the occasional training work with every interface and mail application.   So we should be well positioned to compete with Priority Inbox.

But, the big question: is it possible for a small company to compete with the huge company on quality and features.  It would be too bad if we are harkening back to the Microsoft Era where the huge company gets to roll over the little guy by releasing just about anything for freebundled into their system.

My answer is that I still believe in the honest democracy which is the Internet and that the better product will win.

For the record, let me say that if Priority Inbox is ever more accurate and easier to use than SaneBox then Google deserves to win this one. And, I will be the first to admit it.  But, so far, that doesn’t appear to be true.
